The Good Samaritan Medical and Dental Ministry proudly welcomes you to join us for the summer of 2010 mission trip!
For those of you who are not familiar with the mission, we are a large scale non-profit Christian medical organization that brings western medicine and dentistry to Vietnam. Our organization's medical capabilities are extraordinarily extensive and we bring state-of-the-art medical and surgical equipment to Vietnam every year. Some of our capabilities include a fully capable lab that provides on the spot blood chemistry analyzation, optometric care, dental care, a mobile pharmacy, and full surgical capabilities.
The whole mission lasts two weeks in Vietnam, and it starts July 22th, 2010 to August 8th, 2010. For the summer of 2009, GSMDM was able to see 3,500 patients and operated on 37 patients. As you can see, our reach is extensive, and our goals are of the same caliber. GSMDM has four mission objectives:
1. To provide young people and opportunity to serve and hear God's call to ministry
2. to share healing and divine love to the people of Vietnam
3. To strengthen the relationship between the government and the Church
4. To develop ministry leadership skills of team members
As a member, you will not only be working alongside your peers only, but you will be also be working with medical professionals such as physicians, surgeons, optometrists, dentists, pharmacists, and nurses. You will be pushed to your spiritual, physical, and emotional limits in the most rural of places in Vietnam as you serve. This is not an "easy" mission, but it is most certain that when you come back, your life will be changed forever. You don't have to be in the medical field, or have any prior medical training--we will train you in all the skills that you need to operate the mobile clinic.
As a Christian organization, we operate and follow core Christian Values, and we rely heavily upon the Lord throughout the whole mission. It is our goal that what we do in Vietnam purely reflects God's Love, and brings glory to His name. Through this, the people of Vietnam can see the compassion through an unlikely source, a group of Americans (just like the Biblical Good Samaritan).
This year we are taking 40 qualified applicants. What does it mean to be qualified? Well we are looking for men and women who have a servant heart, and are willing to sacrifice their time and money for the mission. The cost of the mission comprises only of your plane ticket. GSMDM takes pride in being an affordable mission, and we have historically never charged over $1600 for our summer mission. Also, whatever money that you put in the mission will ultimately be used to meet your needs. This is made possible by a series of fundraisers that we do in the spring, that helps us raise funds for this cause. Also, to be on the Vietnam team, you must be over 18 at July 22nd, 2010. If you are not, then we have a home team that you may apply for also! The home team will be crucial for GSMDM, and a perfect way to get volunteer hours. Also, home team members get special consideration for when the are the right age to be on the field mission. So, apply ASAP! Last year we had over 80 applicants, and we unfortunately only could take 40. Come and join GSMDM this year, and be ready for an adventure of a lifetime!
