Hey Everyone!

I'd like to announce that Team HBV at UCLA has been officially approved. Woot woot! :) We just heard from our adviser and we're clear to start working on projects and applying for campus grants.

I basically took the Team HBV constitution from the resources and modified it to be specific to UCLA. I emphasized that we're going to be an extension of the Asian Liver Center, that we're going to be helping to promote the LA Hep B Free initiative with Koy Parada, and that we're going to be working directly with the Asian Pacific Liver Center in Los Angeles. I think UCLA is pretty lenient in the sense that they allow groups be to started even if it's similar to another established organization. The only criteria is that the mission statement cannot be extremely similar.

Current tasks for the UCLA chapter:

  • Request a tax ID and open an organization bank account.
  • Create a brochure/handout about hepatitis B targetting UCLA students.
  • Reserve meeting rooms on campus.
  • Manage the Team HBV at UCLA website.
  • Make announcements to other health and cultural groups about Team HBV.
  • Organize documentary showing and plan for food to be provided
  • Make a list of all cultural events occuring in the local communities.
  • Plan for recruitment and training.
  • Have fun! :D

Thanks for reading!
