Organizations
I have volunteered with Shelby Baptist Medical Center for two years. Some of my duties include clerical things, but I also help in patient care.
I also volunteer with Family Comfort Hospice, and am the designated student that works on life reviews, which are 3rd person memoirs about the patient's life. They are given to the family after the patient dies.

Quotations
"If the devil was not created by a higher power, I think that man created him in his own image." - Ivan Karamazov (from the Brothers Karamazov by Fyodor Dostoevsky)
"I wish the ring had never come to me. I wish none of this had happened."-Frodo ..."So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to do is decide what to do with the time that is given us."-Gandalf (from the Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien)
"A person is a person no matter how small."-Horton (from the movie Horton Hears A Who)
“You have a traitor there, Aslan,” said the Witch. Of course everyone present knew that she meant Edmund. But Edmund had got past thinking about himself after all he’d been through and after the talk he’d had that morning. He just went on looking at Aslan. It didn’t seem to matter what the Witch said." (from The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S. Lewis)
Why would anyone choose war instead of peace? In peace, sons bury fathers-but in war, fathers bury sons. (from The Histories by Herodotus)
In general people experience their present naively, as it were, without being able to form an estimate of its contents; they have first to put themselves at a distance from it - the present, that is to say, must have become the past - before it can yield points of vantage from which to judge the future. (Sigmund Freud in "The Future of an Illusion")
"Now we see things imperfectly, as in a cloudy mirror, but then we will see with perfect clarity." 1 Cor. 13:12.

About Me
So maybe I don't have all the answers. Maybe that's ok. As C.S. Lewis once said, "If I discover within myself a desire which no experience this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." I was made for another world. But while I am on this Earth, my goal is to learn and soak in as much as I can- to travel and to have those once-in-a-lifetime moments that truly characterize what it means to be human.
