"If I discover within myself a desire which no experience this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world." This is one of my favorite quotes by C.S. Lewis. I often find myself thinking about it and wondering about the world to come.

In the meantime, I am going about my Father's work. I am a Junior in high school at a small private school near Birmingham, Alabama. I have aspirations to be an Emergency Room doctor at an inner city hospital, who somehow manages to write novels in her spare time and travel the globe offering pro bono medical aid to those less fortunate. Some of my favorite things are hot tea on rainy afternoons, coffee on cold ones, and water on plain ones. I love reading, writing, and watching movies. In my spare time I volunteer, at a hospital nearby and with a hospice organization. I glean great joy from serving others and sacrificing my time to make their lives that much better.

One of my goals for the  year is to make volunteerism something fun and exciting for my friends to do together. What better way to build friendships is there than serving others together? The title of this blog post is "Limina," Latin for "threshold," where we get the word "liminal," as in liminal spaces. I feel that as I am creeping closer to college that I am on the threshold of something great and profound, and hope to embrace a calling to serve others without any complaint or restraint.

This program is an excellent opportunity not only to build upon my writing skills but also to teach me about the value of self-discipline. I am greatly looking forward to what the year will bring and am greatly excited about expanding my horizons in regards to the needs of the world and community around me.
