Something important came to mind today - how do we best conduct campus outreach?  I want to see if we can start a hepatitis B awareness week here at Harvard, but also emulate Cornell's hepatitis B certification program.  Something we also really want to try to do is to start Team HBV chapters at other Boston area colleges.  If you have any ideas let me know!

Another aspect of hepatitis B advocacy that I want to talk about is something that doesn't get as much attention.  How about political advocacy?  This has historically gotten less attention, specifically in our age group, which is often characterized as politically apathetic.  Yet, I couldn't think of a more exciting time amidst health care reform to tackle this. Any ideas of national efforts to address this?

Community outreach is something that Harvard chapter has focused on from the get-go.  The conference recently got me thinking about how community outreach is affected differently at various chapters across the country.  How does this prioritize compared to other valuable efforts like fundraising, artistic expression, and campus outreach?  Even more importantly, how does this relate to another priority of global outreach?  Food for thought.

I had a great time at the Team HBV Conference.  I learned about best practices at so many chapters at the heart of the Asian Liver Center at Stanford University.  Although Team HBV at Harvard has really invested in the Boston community, this really helped me feel a part of something larger.  You can't really look at hepatitis B as a purely domestic issue - it really is a global health issue.  A shoutout to the China Chapters!

Hi all,

Kate Xie, Francis Deng, and I are going to the Team HBV Collegiate Conference this weekend!  We've been working extensively on our presentation, and this is the culmination of all of Harvard College Team HBV's hard work these past few years.  Thanks to Stanford ALC for sponsoring and organizing this!

On another note, here is an interesting video:
