Grace finished the last round of the US Kids Junior Golf world championship. And it's a quite challenging round due to the hardened green and toughest PIN location for most of the holes. She was paired with the 1st place player and another 2nd place holder after the first two rounds which was both an honor as well as a challenge.  Grace's drive at 1st tee was not staying on the fairway and she rescued back from fairway bunker and took 4 shots to get on the green side but she chipped in from 5 or 6 yards away. She got bogeys on both par 3 holes then bogeyed on 5th hole where she earned birdie before. Last hole she got on the green from 90 yard away but the green was too fast so the ball rolled off the green and she ended up on that hole as bogey too. At the end she shot 43 strokes and got tied 6th place among all 49 players from all over the world. She definitely went through a tough day with quite some emotional journey and some disappointment. but she hung on there. Even without being able to make any birdie at last round her total scores still beat several other players who were ahead of her at Junior World at San Diego in July.

Grace wish she could have shot better but she is proud of the fact that she paired and played with the best players worldwide and she pretty much made all the major shot decision herself independantly instead of relying on the caddie as most of the junior players did and she handled some tricky situations nicely.

Going forward the philosophy to improve is still "no pain,  no gain".  Grace would need to practice more and perfect her game which is to drive further, straighter, pitch higher, softer and chip closer and putt steadier. There is still a long way for her to go and she will try to play better at next year's world championship.

In summery for this year's two juinior golf world championships she earned total of 5 birdies:

2 birdies at Callaway Junior World Championship

3 birdies at US Kids World Championship

Thanks for all the support she got from everybody.

Grace finished 2nd round of the world championship. She got two birdies on hole #4 (a par 4 hole) and #6 ( a par 4 hole). Her 2nd round score is 37 again for 9 holes and total score for first two rounds is 74 which placed her to tied 2nd place (moved up 1 position from yesterday's 3rd place).

Today's pin location is tough and cost some yesterday's low score players bogeys on some holes. Grace got into two bunkers and she managed to get out beautifully:

One faiway bunker with 124 yard to the green: she hit the ball with 5 wood and got the ball onto the green side.
One green side bunker with deep lip and with very short distance (4 feet) to the pin: she got out from it with ball roll to 2 feet from the pin.

She rescued herself  from the above bad situation which could be much worse if she did not handle properly.  One more round to go tomorrow. She is ready for that. Wish she can stay as contender and shoot her best round tomorrow.

Thanks for the support.

Grace finished 1st round of US Kids Golf World Championship  at Longleaf Golf Course at Southern Pine, North Carolina on Aug 6, 2009. She made one birdie on Hole # 5 (a par 5 hole) and shot 37 strokes for 9 holes and ranked 3rd among all 49 players.

Grace had 5 birdie chances on Hole #2, #3, #5, #6, #8 and all  her putts on those holes hit the cup and either got bounced out and horse shoe except on #5. She would have made 5 birdies if it was not due to those missed birdie putts but that's just golf and anything can happen.

She did well on her driving and short game. Wish she can continue the momentum on the remaining 2 rounds.
