Description The Zigen Fund is a 501(C)3 nonprofit that supports grassroots efforts for sustainable development in the rural areas of China. Zigen's work relies on private contributions and volunteers in the U.S., Hong Kong, Taiwan, China and other areas.
Since 1988, Zigen accomplished effective projects in 265 villages, 45 counties and 11 provinces, mainly in Guizhou, Yunan, Guangxi, Hubei, Sichuan, Heibei. Shanxi, and the migrant workers' communities in Beijing. By 2008, Zigen had provided more than 80,000 scholarships for children (mainly girls) to go to school; supported school and village libraries, literacy classes, women health workshops, village clinics, household bio-gas and small hydro power station.
