Established in 1960, The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) is one of the territory's largest non-profit, youth work organizations. Its main objective is to provide opportunities and facilities for the social, educational, cultural and physical development of young people. Financial resources of the Federation mainly come from government subventions, plus grants from the Community Chest of Hong Kong, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, other trust funds, programme fees, and both private and corporate donations.

The Federation's motto, Caring for Youth, Caring for the Community reflects that we devote our resources and energy to ten core services, which include youth employment, leadership training, volunteer services, services for youth-at-risk, counseling services, education services, services for parents, youth exchange, e-services and leisure, cultural and sports services.
Youth Employment
HKFYG promotes the concept of life banking for careers and employment. The Youth Employment Network organizes Youth Pre-employment Training Programmes to this end. Leadership Training
Leadership 21 has provided systematic and professional training for more than 20,000 young people. A 10-year leadership development programme, Hong Kong 200 , has been newly initiated. Each year 200 youth leaders will be selected for intensive training in Hong Kong and Beijing with the aim of enhancing their sense of social responsibility and reinforcing their willingness to give back to the community. Volunteer Services
The Youth Volunteer Network (VNET) is the territory's biggest for young people. Its 100,000 registered members provide over 500,000 voluntary service hours per year. Each April, VNET organizes Global Youth Service Month in Hong Kong. In December, the VNET annual awards given on International Volunteer Day recognize the contribution made by volunteers and December is also volunteer month, when VNET mobilizes the greatest number to serve the community. Services for Youth at Risk
The outreach social work teams provide help for youth at risk with personal, emotional, family, academic and employment problems. The Youth Support Scheme provides counseling for those who have been cautioned by the police for minor offences. (tel: 2402 9230)
Counselling Services
We are committed to providing appropriate support for youth in need and give personal, one-to-one, hotline and interactive, web-based counseling. We have school-based social workers at secondary and primary schools. Youthline 2777 8899 gives telephone and Internet counseling. (tel: 2395 0161)
Education Services
We have two kindergartens, a primary school and a secondary school. Educating young people in the broadest sense is fundamental to our mission.
Services for Parents
We are dedicated to helping parents establish healthy parent-child relationships, teaching them the necessary communication skills and offering support as required. We offer mediation when communication breaks down or when parent-child conflict occurs. (tel: 2402 9230)
Youth Exchange
International and regional schemes, competitions and exchange programmes are organized annually to broaden young people's horizons. They include the Hong Kong Odyssey of the Mind Programme, the Hong Kong Student Science Project Competition and the Hong Kong Young Ambassador Scheme. LEAD is a new creative education programme. e-Services
u21.hk provides an immense amount of diverse information for young people through many channels including uJob, uStudy and uVolunteer. We use the website to keep in close contact with our 210,000 members via the bi-weekly e-newsletters, yxpress and teenxpress. u21.hk won an award as one of Hong Kong's top 10 Healthy Websites. Leisure, Cultural and Sports Services
HKFYG provides a wide-range of leisure facilities and all-round training activities for youth. We promote healthy living by organizing large-scale competitive youth challenges and setting up sports scholarships.
