Sustainable Rural Development (SRD) is a Vietnamese non-profit non-governmental organisation. We are dedicated to working with disadvantaged communities in mountainous areas, assisting them to improve their quality of life and manage their resources sustainably.

SRD is part of what was formerly CIDSE Vietnam - ‘Coopération Internationale pour le Développement et la Solidarité’ (International Cooperation for Development and Solidarity). CIDSE Vietnam was an international non-governmental organisation, which carried out numerous development projects through out the country between 1978 - 2005. With the formation of SRD, CIDSE has realised its ultimate goal of nationalising its local development activities.

Throughout 2005, SRD has been operating as an independent department (Livelihoods and Upland Agriculture - LUA) with its own structure and functioning units although still under the CIDSE Vietnam umbrella. At the end of March 2006 SRD was granted establishment decision from the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) number 281/QD-LHH dated 21 March 2006 and operation permit from Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (MOSTE) dated March 30, 2006.
