The overall purpose of Humana People to People is to create development where it is needed in an effort to minimize the gap between the rich and the poor.
HUMANA People to People members work with pressing issues facing mankind around the globe. Education, Health, HIV & AIDS and Food Security represent 4 of its major pillars. The members presently operate more than 320 development projects reaching out to more than 12 million people on a yearly basis within the areas of basic health, HIV & AIDS, education, agriculture, environment, relief aid and community development. Furthermore, about 6 million people are reached annually through the secondhand clothes sales and distribution system.
Today, projects include, but are not limited to;
• 24 Teacher Training Colleges, which annually graduate more than 2,200 qualified and compassionate teachers for the rural areas of Angola, Mozambique and Malawi;
• 65 Community Development Programs called “Child Aid” operated in 10 Southern African countries, India, China and Latin America.
• 56 HIV & AIDS Programs known as “Total Control of the Epidemic” are implemented in Southern Africa, India and China.
• 20 Farmers' Clubs Projects with more than 70,000 members train small scale farmers in Angola, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique, Malawi, Zimbabwe and China.
Furthermore, a number of Vocational Schools, Environmental Projects, Children’s Towns for AIDS orphans and other vulnerable children, are operated on a daily basis.
HUMANA People to People organizations are known for their implementation capacity, cost efficiency, well established track-records and their close cooperation with National Governments.
The Federation has a 30 year history of working with people at grass root level, building people’s own capacity to help themselves - thus creating sustainable improvements. (less)
