For over 10 years, International Medical Options (IMO) has been doing just that. Over the years, IMO volunteers have treated thousands of people around the world in areas with no access to basic medical care. Hundreds more have been trained in IMO classes to serve their communities as medics, providing a first line of defense. From this group, many have gone on to be certified as Community Health Workers, leading to the creation of governmental medical supply lines. IMO has given doctors and students of all backgrounds the chance to make a difference in the world by serving as a part of summer medical trips as clinic workers and medical teachers.
