Really cool exerpt/blog post on "ORGAN DONATION: THE ULTIMATE GIFT FROM THE 1960S". Great, impressive statistics and a fun read.

The book of odds websites seems like really nerdy fun. Will be exploring this over thanksgiving :).

Happy thanksgiving everyone! I'm headed down to New York to do some much needed retail therapy. Hope your thanksgivings are as relaxing and therapeutic!

Love,

Helen

Very cute. If only we could all be more like the frog. Although this might not be a good thing for the poor lab frog :(.

Novel 2009 H1N1 Flu Advisory Issued for Cardiopulmonary Transplantation

Scary article. Seems sad that there's now even another barrier against heart transplants.

As an avid blood donor, and a promoter for organ donation and marrow donation, I think this is pretty great news. There's so much fear over diseases transmitted during transfusions and surgeries. Science should be on the lookout for making transplantations, transfusions and all types of procedures more and more safe.

http://organdonor.gov/ is a great resource for people thinking about signing up to be organ donors. Check it out and let your friends know!

Very cute, philosophical and funny. I think being an organ donor is so important, what with the organ shortage and all. I wish that the united states would change into a opt-out system rather than an opt-in, but it will take a long time for such legislature to pass.

'Underrepresented' students increasingly college bound

This article is very encouraging. But I'm always wondering how I could help. I'm thinking of starting up community tutoring, but I'm afraid that I might not have the ability to help kids as much as I would like. That's always the problem with volunteering - you don't know if you're giving them second class care/teaching.
