We believe that Asia is rapidly developing, and the Asian non-profit community will be one of the fastest growing due to increasing need for services. This premium platform focuses on building connections between the socially-minded younger generations with a heart for Asia.
The community is called "East Villagers Beta" because it has recently been launched and we hope for members who are part of the Beta Stage to submit feedback and help us build the online community to help best fit the needs of non-profits, volunteers, and members as much as possible.
“East” represents our East Asia focus. Village is the oldest form of community. On the other hand, “East Village” in New York is a modern community.
Therefore, we want to creatively use the best in modern “Web 2.0” technology possible to facilitate service among areas most in need.
Through East Villagers, we are able to build “villages” of people who have had their lives transformed through non-profit help. These are in essence “villages” of volunteers and “villages” of organizations focused on service.
1. We treat non-profits and volunteers as first-class members by tailoring our online community to meet their most pressing needs. 2. We focus on the Asian community and Asia.

East Villagers focuses on serving as a network for ALL non profit organizations serving the Asian community in America and Asia. We hope to serve as a network for ALL non-profit organizations related to Asians and Asia. We welcome all other non-profits to use our site, network, and features.
Each organization has their own representatives who can promote their organization by writing blogs, posting updates, projects, and fundraising activity through the EV opportunities feature (a classifieds or craigslist for non-profits).
Members should represent themselves. They can then create organizations they are a part of and become an admin for their organization to post updates and projects. Usually the admin is a staff member of the non-profit. No proof or documentation is required; however, EV expects for all members to post accurate information regarding organizations to the best of their ability. If there is inaccurate information, organizations or members can report to the EV administrator by contacting admin@eastvillagers.org. We will verify the information and change accordingly. The EV Staff will work closely with organizations and members.
Yes, members are free to participate in any organizations or projects by clicking "Join this Organization". Members can follow a project, support it, or volunteer. If members want to actively volunteer, they can contact the organization officers directly by posting comments on the organization. If they would like to make a donation, they could also post comments asking for more information or express to the organization that they would like to make a donation.
You can invite people in your non-profit network through "Things to Do --> Invite Friends". You can also post photos of your trips and add playlists of youtube videos related to your work. Please Check "Things to Do" at the top right corner of every page for a full list of our features and functions. At any time, EV Staff can feature your blog and stories on the news ticker and we can also feature organizations that are most active as well as popular projects. You can also send private messages to members and search for skills offered and people's focus by going to "Villagers" page and selecting the fields you want to search for.
EV wishes to aid original organization sites, and to provide the online tools for organizations that don't have resources to make a site. We have a widget for organizations to embed into their site which links visitors to their EV Page which has their their past and present members, stories, photos, and more. EV aims to be a easy-to-use tool to help make an organization's life easier, so they can effectively spread the word and get the support they deserve.
