Hi there. I'm Quyen (it rhymes with Ian, with a /kw/ in the front.) I'm a high school junior from Vietnam but I'm currently living in the States as an exchange student.
Life has been a whirlwind these past few weeks for me, moving from Vietnam all the way to Chicago, IL. It really is a big move and everything is new and eye-opening (and ..reminds of home. Sadface) I really have to admit that I completely forgot about my application status for EV these past weeks due to being so occupied with my new school and host family. I was so glad to hear that I got the internship though. I've decided that I would quit being a morose and homesick little person and be happy today thanks to EV!
I like writing -- I'm not good at it I have to admit -- but I write anyhow. I write on napkins, on my blog, on my sketchbook, on my history textbook, on the back my calculus homework sheets. Lines of poetry, words of nostalgia, memories of my past trips to volunteer camps, anything, everything.
Having been assigned into the International Health team, I look forward to writing about the issues related to this overarching theme as well as other topics such as environment, human rights, youth campaigns, etc. I'm not a picky person when it gets to what to write. As long as it's something I care about and it's something that sends out a positive message to other people, then I'll write it. Hopefully I'll be able to post frequently on EV throughout my entire internship. I'm also very excited to know more about my teammates and learn from them. I have spent some time browsing through all of their intros and they do sound like really amazing people. I know I'm in for one hell of a ride with EV. Go team!
